Devices compatible with 4K Media IPTV

Smart TV, streaming stick, phone or computer: with a compatible app, 4K Media IPTV runs on most recent devices. Here’s what to know about each one.

Device by device

Where to watch, and how

On every device, the app comes from the official app store. You’ll find the name of the recommended app in your activation email.

  • Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS) and others

    Smart TV

A compatible IPTV app, installed from your TV’s own app store.

On most recent models, the app installs in a few minutes from the Samsung or LG store. Some older TVs no longer offer it. In that case, a Fire TV or Google TV stick plugged into an HDMI port solves the problem.

For 4KRecent 4K Smart TVs decode HEVC natively.

  • Android TV televisions and boxes

    Android TV

The app comes from Google Play, just like any other.

Sony, Philips, TCL, media boxes: plenty of devices run Android TV. You install through Google Play and find your way around entirely with the remote.

For 4KCheck the box is sold as 4K and supports HEVC.

  • Google TV televisions, Chromecast with Google TV

    Google TV

Works the same way as Android TV, with the Google TV interface.

Google TV is built on Android TV: install the compatible app from Google Play and it appears alongside your other apps. The 4K version of Chromecast with Google TV handles Ultra HD.

For 4KGo for the 4K version of Chromecast with Google TV.

  • Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube

    Fire TV

Installed from the Amazon Appstore, using nothing but the remote.

A Fire TV stick turns any television with an HDMI port into a connected screen. Search for the recommended app in the Amazon Appstore.

For 4KStandard Fire TV models top out at Full HD, so pick a 4K version.

  • Android and iPhone

    Smartphone

A compatible app from Google Play or the App Store.

Handy for following a match from room to room, or keeping an eye on the news. Stick to Wi-Fi where you can: an hour of high-definition video soon uses several gigabytes.

For 4KOn a small screen, HD and Full HD are more than enough.

  • Android and iPad

    Tablet

A bigger screen you can take anywhere in the house.

Same setup as on a smartphone. A tablet makes an excellent second screen for the kitchen or the bedroom, while the TV stays in the living room.

For 4KFull HD strikes the right balance between quality and bandwidth.

  • Windows and macOS

    Computer

A compatible player app, installed on your computer.

A computer suits a home office or a student room. Connect it to the TV with an HDMI cable and it doubles as a player for the big screen.

For 4KUltra HD needs a 4K display and a recent processor.

Watching in 4K: the checklist

4K asks a little more than the other quality levels. Run through these four points before you start.

  • A 4K screen

An Ultra HD TV or monitor, at 3840 × 2160 pixels.

  • HEVC decoding

Most recent 4K Smart TVs, sticks and boxes support the H.265 format.

  • The right HDMI port

HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 if you use an external stick or box.

  • A stable connection

15 to 25 Mbps available at all times, ideally over an Ethernet cable.
